Have you ever wondered if you would know what to do if your baby was choking? My name is Lara - I am a paediatric doctor, and have joined The Parentmedic Movement as a community educator and ambassador. I provide education to families and parents in baby & child first aid, including….CPR, Choking, Head Injuries, Fevers, Febrile Convulsions, Allergies & Anaphylaxis, Poisons and MORE... in a FUN and memorable way.We are holding a special session at the brilliant Camperdown Commons on 4th July, after the sold-out success of our last session and massive demand that we saw in May. As well as learning all about what to do should the worst happen with your baby or child, it's also a great chance to sit down with me in a calm environment so I can help you learn current recommendations for their health. I am doing this on top of my role in a children's hospital, and being a mum myself, as I am passionate about helping support parents to feel prepared and empowered - I personally know how hard it can be.From 9.30-10am, we are running a free ‘social’ slot for parents and bubs / kids to come along and meet other parents, grab a great coffee or snack from the delicious venue, and check out this lovely heavenly family-friendly place! This is a particularly great chance for any new parents who maybe are yet to join a mother’s group but would like to learn more about how to manage their babies health and get out of the house to meet others in the same boat (we know that the waiting lists in this area can be long, with some waiting up to 6 weeks for their first group session). Or maybe you are set up with plenty of friends, supports or a well-established mother’s group but have had ‘baby & child first aid course’ on your to-do list for a long time… (I know first hand how long those get once babies come along!) Following on from the 30 minute ‘meet & greet’ the Parentmedic Baby & Child First Aid session will run from 10-12pm – all are welcome, the more the merrier, and best of all, it's baby and child friendly, so bring them along.Due to a special arrangement with this brilliant venue and it’s like-minded event organiser, we are able to offer this session at the SPECIAL PRICE of $40pp – minimum 6 people, so encourage your friends / family to come along for a fun and memorable baby & child first aid course in a great setting. Hi, I'm Lara and I'm a proud Parentmedic Ambassador! As a paediatric doctor, I've seen first hand what an enormous difference it makes when parents have the knowledge and skills to give their babies and children good first aid. Becoming a Mum to a wonderful little girl made me realise how essential this first aid knowledge is to feeling confident and empowered as a parent - and my decision to spread this among parents was born. I joined the inspiring Parentmedic Movement, and now have taught many Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and friends what to do should the worst happen . The Parentmedic Movement was founded by Nataly Tormey, from Melbourne, Australia. It is a global movement of health professionals who are passionate about empowering families and parents with life-saving education, and provide their knowledge with the support of a dedicated community. All Parentmedic Movement Ambassadors (aka educators) have completed specialised training in Baby & Child First Aid, and participate in regular assesments of knowledge and delivery standards. This is the only program available globally that ensures that educators meet certain standards. All Parentmedic Ambassadors hold current public liability insurance and relevant checks to ensure that they provide safe environments for you and your child. We invite new members to The Parentmedic Movement - I am passionate about reaching as many people as possible, and really look forward to meeting you at a one of my sessions soon!
